Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) Policy
At Grupo Martinez Bierzo, we incessantly seek to be the preferred supplier of our products, services and solutions. We care about people and the environment.
At the heart of our policy is the implementation of an interdependent culture of safety and a culture of mental and physical health, while maintaining the highest standards of safety and health. We live in a culture of environmental protection, in which the rational use of energy and natural resources is encouraged, and environmentally harmful emissions are avoided.
This policy is applicable and communicated to all employees, directors, middle managers, leaders and supervisors of all the companies that make up the Grupo Martinez Bierzo:
- The group’s management is responsible for the guidance, supervision and control of the group’s health and safety and environmental strategy and policy and for the risks and public information in this area.
- The different middle managers (leaders and supervisors) are responsible for collaborating with management in establishing action plans, objectives and monitoring indicators.
As part of our HSE (Health, Safety and Environment) policy, Grupo Martinez Bierzo is committed to:
- Stop activities that pose unacceptable risks to safety, health or the environment.
- Integrate safety, health and environmental care into the design of our products, processes, equipment and infrastructure.
- Evaluate all aspects of the business to continuously improve the management of HSE-related risks.
- Establish benchmarks for our practices based on those recognized as the best performers, to learn and improve.
- Minimise waste and move towards treating all waste safely and responsibly.
- Implement management systems and procedures to proactively monitor and ensure compliance with all applicable laws and regulations, including our internal standards.
- Improve the quality and transparency of all communications about SH&E with all parties involved.
- Ensure that all persons within Grupo Martinez Bierzo receive training and can comply with this policy.
- Encourage our employees to live safe and healthy lives and behave with respect for the environment at work, at home, and in their community.
It is management’s responsibility to lay the groundwork for meeting objectives and goals. In addition, management is responsible for living and sharing SH&E’s vision and policy, and for ensuring that it is known, understood, and complied with by everyone within our organization. All employees, subcontractors, and visitors will be required to comply with this policy, as a condition of employment, contracts, or access to our facilities.
Whatever the position or geographic location, all employees are responsible for their own safety, as well as contributing to individual and collective health, safety, and environmental performance. If there is a conflict between safety and operational results, all employees have the responsibility to choose safety, and management always supports this choice. Grupo Martinez Bierzo believes that complying with this policy is the responsibility of all its employees.
The Management of the Grupo Martinez Bierzo will allocate the human, technical and financial resources necessary for the implementation, monitoring and improvement in this regard, being the responsibility of all the collaboration in it and compliance with this safety, occupational health and environmental policy, which will be maintained and reviewed periodically.
