SUSTAINABLE PURCHASING POLICY

OBJECT

The purpose of this Policy is to establish the guidelines that define the behavior of our Company, in accordance with our commitment to promote best practices in the purchase and contracting of goods and services through responsible and sustainable management.

The purpose of the Sustainable Procurement Policy is to provide GRUPO MARTINEZ BIERZO employees with the guidelines to avoid and mitigate possible adverse environmental, social and economic impacts associated with the acquisition of goods and services, ensuring the generation of value and benefit not only for GRUPO MARTINEZ BIERZO companies but also for society, the economy and the environment.

SCOPE OF APPLICATION

Our commitment to improving our sustainability performance includes all our purchases, both direct (raw materials and packaging products) and indirect (services and products purchased to carry out our business).

OUR COMMITMENTS

  • Ensure that the principles of ethics and integrity, equal opportunities and free competition, transparency and traceability, independence and objectivity in decision-making are respected.
  • Ensure that human and labor rights are complied with by evaluating the performance of suppliers to avoid any non-compliance or identify any violations of these, promoting a culture of respect both internally and throughout the supply chain.
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion and non-discrimination, ensuring work-life balance, fair remuneration and the safety and well-being of people, ensuring working conditions and identifying and evaluating the performance of suppliers in these matters to avoid any non-compliance, and recognizing best practices.
  • Prioritize climate action by contracting third parties that demonstrate a more responsible and efficient consumption of energy and water resources, that provide proposals that involve energy efficiency, as well as best practices in responsible consumption of raw materials and the circular economy. We will positively value the relationship with suppliers that have defined decarbonization targets.
  • Promote the preservation of the natural environment through the identification and evaluation of the environmental performance of suppliers to avoid any impact and protect biodiversity in the environment where they carry out their activities, ensuring that there are measures for the control of emissions and adequate management of environmental risks.
  • Encourage the acquisition of goods and services from local or locally based suppliers to promote the development of the communities where we operate.
  • Provide suppliers with appropriate communication channels to facilitate dialogue and communication.
  • Train and sensitize both buyers and suppliers on ethics and compliance.

CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT: POLICY APPROVAL, REVIEW AND COMMUNICATION

This Policy will be subject to continuous review and improvement, especially when business circumstances require it.
Failure to comply with this Policy may result in disciplinary action.

All employees are responsible for the success of this policy and should ensure that they use it to disclose any suspected danger or wrongdoing.
Employees are invited to comment on this policy and suggest ways to improve it. Comments, suggestions, and inquiries should be addressed to the company’s representative.

This policy does not form part of any employee’s employment contract and may be modified at any time.
