Worker’s Workplace Well-Being Policy

1. Introduction

The Worker Well-being programme developed by the Martínez Bierzo Group seeks to improve the quality of life of its workers, reduce inequalities, eliminate any type of discrimination and allow the reconciliation of work and family life.

In the group we believe that this is the basis for achieving optimal productivity and quality in our services.

This program is formed based on the legal framework and requirements currently in force.

2. Rules and regulations

This program follows the guidelines and recommendations of the following rules and regulations:

  • Law 31/1995, of 8 November, which establishes the rules on the prevention of occupational risks.
  • Royal Decree 2/2015, of 23 October, which establishes the right to reconcile work and family life.
  • Royal Decree 6/2019, of March 1, 2019, which establishes equal treatment and opportunities between people, regardless of sex or race.

3. Basic Rules for Comfortable and Safe Work

a. Do not work under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

b. It is strictly forbidden to attend the workplace with any type of weapon.

c. Evaluate the equipment before starting to work with it, in case of observing any incident inform your superior immediately.

d. Refusing work under unsafe conditions or actions.

e. Do not drive or handle vehicles and equipment without proper training and permits.

f. It is strictly forbidden to use telephones while driving or handling any equipment that may pose any type of risk to workers.

g. At the end of the working day, the workstation must be cleaned and ready for use by the next relay.

h. Presence of a suggestion system through which workers can express their opinion about possible improvements, both at the work level and in terms of infrastructures and equipment. In this way, we achieve a constant improvement in productivity and quality.

i. Provide workers with an adequate level of training and information, so that the tasks to be carried out by them are clearly recorded.

j. Correct communication from superiors to workers, indicating working methods, safety measures, working times, etc.

k. Correct scheduling of time and workload by managers for each worker, in order to avoid a feeling of impossibility or overwhelm on the part of the worker.

l. Existence of psychosocial support guidelines (affective support, instruments, etc.), with the aim of reducing stress in our workers as much as possible.

4. Work-life balance

At Martínez Bierzo Group we believe in the possibility of being able to balance work life with family life, according to our criteria it is a way to increase the productivity of our company, improve the quality of our products and services, and reduce labor conflicts and accidents and incidents in our workforce.
Our criteria are based on the following basic points:

  • The duration of the working hours of our staff is established in a clear and concise way, within the legal limits, respecting the current legislation at all times.
  • Establishment of breaks according to current legislation.
  • Option to have flexible hours, depending on family, personal or other conditions.
  • Adaptation of access to facilities for people with reduced mobility or handicaps.
  • The use of any type of verbal or physical violence by our staff is strictly prohibited.
  • A criterion of equality between gender and race is established, the only admissible criterion being the worker’s skills, knowledge and worth.

5. Worker Participation and Status

From Martínez Bierzo Group we are committed to the participatory nature of each and every one of our workers, for this we have implemented a system of suggestions and possible complaints, through which any worker will be able to rise to directives any situation that they consider unfair or improvable, as well as possible improvements both towards the staff, as well as shortcomings in infrastructure or tools for the performance of the different tasks that are carried out.

We also want to put on record the importance of respect for current legislation in the Spanish labour market, which is why the rules and instructions reflected in Law 31/1995, of 8 November, which regulates the working conditions and safety measures necessary for the performance of the worker’s work, will be strictly followed.
All the requirements and recommendations of the collective agreement to which the worker is registered will be followed, in this way we can fully ensure the non-existence of irregularities and the existence of decent conditions for each worker within our company (both in terms of salary and schedules, shifts, breaks, etc.).

6. Basic Recruitment Rules

  • The hiring of qualified and properly trained staff for the position (in the event of a lack of training of a worker, the company will assume his or her specific training)
  • The hiring of staff who have reached full age (the company’s internal policy totally rejects the hiring of minors)
  • The inclusion of each worker within a collective agreement regulated by the current Spanish Lay of Economy, thus ensuring decent wages, working hours and conditions for all workers

Martínez Bierzo’s directives emphasize all these criteria to guarantee the well-being of all our workers, offering them decent, egalitarian working conditions within the framework of current legislation.
